Training

Training and education are fundamental to maintaining an environment free from discriminatory harassment and retaliation. Educating employees on unacceptable behavior and the consequences they face is not an option, but a requirement. Effective training clarifies what is — and isn’t — acceptable. It ensures that employees have consistent information; everyone should be aware of the expectations, rules and standards of behavior.

Training is an Essential Tool

The Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offers a variety of learning opportunities to help you develop professional skills and meet personal goals.

Managers, supervisors, faculty, deans, and department heads are responsible for informing employees who are under their direction or supervision of Mason's policies prohibiting discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

All employees are required to complete a session on Sexual Harassment Prevention and Equal Opportunity.

In addition, we offer training on Ethics, Diversity and Cultural Awareness, Affirmative Action, ADA, and custom training as well.

We also work closely with Human Resources to provide training that is unique to department or unit supervisors.

DEI offers online training through MasonLeaps. If you don't see training on the topic you need, email DEI to discuss a custom session for your unit.

A diverse workforce can combine disparate abilities into a cohesive whole. Training is essential to build awareness of those abilities and how together, we're the stronger for it.
